Envy is the second book in a series of seven, each one named after one of the seven deadly sins. I’d have to say that this is what initially drew me to the series. I love when a series is linked somehow with a certain theme.

Summary:

The most popular girl in the school, Harper, has finally decided that she wants her life long best friend, Adam, all to her self. But the only way she can get Adam is for him to break up with his girlfriend Beth. Kane, Adam’s so called best friend, wants the exact thing to happen, but only because he wants Beth. So the two join forces to break up the seemingly happy couple, which proves to be tougher than they initially thought.

My Thoughts on the book:

What I really love about the series so far is the plot. I find it really easy to get lost in it with all its twist and turns. It’s just a fun read. Which is rare to hear from me with books like these; I’m not really into books that are about the popular crowd or a bunch of rich kids. To me all these books are trying to tell me is, “Haha, you’re not rich and your life isn’t as exciting.” This book isn’t taunting me that much, which is why I’m able to read it.

The only thing I didn’t like about the book was the long descriptions of the characters thoughts and feelings. There was a whole chapter dedicated to just telling the reader how each of the 5 characters felt. It’s always good to get the reader inside of the character’s head, but I felt that sometimes in this book it dragged on too much. I get it, they’re all depressed! Get on with the story already!

Do I Recommend the Book?

If when reading a book all that you really look for is a good plot then you may be interested in this book.
